The roots of our religious festivals and ceremonies can be traced in the Vedic literatuere and the Puranas. It is high time that we ponder over how and why these festivals and ceremonies were brought into practice, what need did they serve then, how useful are they today, how much time, money and energy should we spend in observing them and so on. Each individual should decide on behalf of himself as well as on behalf of the society because these days public festivals also are in abundance making a nuisance and causing a lot of waste of national wealth. Let us start this discussion from ourselves. This book tells us how to do this.
