Menaka, Maher and Jatra have been household names among Marathi-speaking people within Maharashtra, and without, since the 1960s. Founded by the late P. V. Beheray, each of the three magazines has carved a distinct niche of its own in the literary and cultural circles of Marathi populace. While Menaka projects the self-made, bold woman’s aspirations and challenges in this age, and Maher serves as the Marathi woman’s rock solid family anchor, Jatra is known as the leading Marathi magazine in the humour genre.
All the three magazines, along with a flourishing book division, are part of Menaka Prakashan which is a subsidiary of MediaNext Infoprocessors Pvt. Ltd. The latter was founded by veteran media professionals commanding vast experience in generation, aggregation and dissemination of content across various media platforms including print, web, audio-visual, mobile and ground events. The spread of MediaNext’s clients covers the corporate sector, government departments, market research organizations, advertising and public relations agencies, real estate entrepreneurs, NGOs, mass media houses and politicians. With the acquisition of Menaka Prakashan in May 2010, MediaNext plays a dual role. Besides being a professional service provider in the field of communication and content, it has now become a full-fledged publication house as well.
